Inventory and fulfilment performance review

Check stock against reorder levels, find where deliveries miss their promise, and build the warehouse scorecard for Sahra Logistics.

Sahra Logistics is a fictional third-party logistics company that runs six warehouses in Saudi Arabia, from the large Riyadh Central DC to the small Abha Hub, plus a new Riyadh South DC that opened in June 2024. It buys and holds stock for business customers and delivers their orders across the Kingdom and the GCC by road, air and sea, using its own fleet and seven contracted carriers.

2025 was a difficult year operationally. Customers complained about late deliveries, especially in summer and around Hajj, and two key accounts escalated after parcels went missing. At the same time the stock side had its own problems: suppliers delivered purchase orders late or short, several fast-moving products ran below their reorder levels at year end, and the warehouse teams disagree about whether the month-end stock snapshots can be trusted.

The data is a realistic mix of clean and messy. Delivered shipments can still be late (the status stays delivered), lost and returned shipments never get a delivery time, freight costs include zero-cost goodwill re-deliveries and keying errors, inventory is a signed movement ledger, and available stock (on hand minus allocated) can be negative. The operations director needs facts, not anecdotes, before the 2026 carrier contract renewals and the annual supplier reviews.

Deliverables

  • Shipment status profile with data completeness
  • Freight cost distribution by transport mode (mean vs median vs P95)
  • Snapshot-to-ledger tie-out of year-end stock by warehouse
  • List of active products below reorder level with open purchase-order cover
  • Supplier on-time and fill-rate table
  • Late-delivery rate by carrier, a summer seasonality comparison and the worst lanes
  • Lost and returned shipments by carrier with the main exception reason
  • 2025 warehouse scorecard combining fulfilment and stock health
