Practise until it sticks

Choose a topic, a skill or a difficulty. Calculation exercises have new versions with fresh numbers once you have solved them, so you can practise the method rather than memorise an answer.

Practice, difficulty 2 of 3

Designing an experiment

Not started

A logistics firm wants to know whether a new route-planning app reduces drivers' delivery times. Put the steps of a sound experiment in order.

Put the steps in order (use the arrows)

  1. 1Run both groups over the same four weeks, with the same type of routes
  2. 2Define the response: mean delivery time per route over four weeks
  3. 3Randomly assign each driver to the new app or to the current system
  4. 4Compare the mean delivery times of the two groups and judge whether the difference exceeds chance variation
  5. 5Recruit the participating drivers and record their recent delivery times
