What we use
We use only first-party cookies and browser storage that the service needs or that remember your choices. We don't use advertising cookies, third-party analytics or tracking pixels.
Typing Quest asks visitors who aren't signed in whether to allow analytics. If you allow it, a random identifier, kept for the browser tab only, counts your visits. If you don't, nothing identifies you, and Typing Quest works exactly the same.
Cookies
- Sign-in: keeps you signed in to Formula Quest and all its applications, and protects the sign-in process. Required; it lasts until you sign out or it expires.
- Theme: remembers whether you chose light, dark or system appearance. Set only when you choose; it lasts one year.
- Language (Typing Quest): remembers whether you chose English or Arabic. Set when you switch language; it lasts one year.
- Your cookie choices (Typing Quest): remembers whether you allowed or rejected analytics, so we don't ask again. Set when you answer; it lasts 180 days.
Storage in your browser
- How you first arrived, such as the page you landed on and the referring site or campaign (only the site's name, never the full link or search terms), so we can understand which links bring people to us. It is kept on any Formula Quest page, on Typing Quest only if you allowed analytics, and stays until you clear it.
- Visit marker: makes sure a visit is counted once. It ends when you close the browser tab.
- Typing Quest analytics identifier: only if you allowed analytics, a random identifier sent with page-view and test events, so that visits by people who aren't signed in can be counted. It isn't linked to your account, it ends when you close the tab, and it is removed straight away if you change your choice to “Reject”.
- Preferences, such as your keyboard layout for shortcut practice, your best practice score, the appearance of Accounting Quest and its independent-practice mode.
- Work in progress on Accounting Quest cases, so you don't lose it. When you're signed in it is also saved to your account. Deleting your data doesn't clear this storage; clear it in your browser.
- Statistics Quest: your appearance choice, drafts of lab and case reports, the derived columns you define, and data files you open in the Statistics Lab. Data files and derived columns stay in your browser and are never sent to us. When you're signed in, case reports are also saved to your account, and lab reports when you choose to save them. Remove a file in the lab or clear your browser's site data.
- Finance Quest: your appearance choice, and unsaved answers to exercises, timed assessments and capstone projects, so you don't lose them. They are removed once saved to your account. Clear your browser's site data to remove them sooner.
Other sites
Our payment provider's payment form may set its own cookies when you pay.
Your choices
On Typing Quest you can change your analytics choice at any time from “Cookie choices” at the bottom of its pages; “Reject” is as easy as “Allow”. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you clear the sign-in cookie you'll be signed out. Before we use any cookie that isn't needed for the service, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent where required. More about your data: our Privacy Policy.
