How it works
The spreadsheet is the classroom.
Every concept is practised the moment it's taught. That's how skills stick.
Learn a concept
A 20-second idea — what it is, why it matters at work. No 40-minute videos.
Relative vs absolute
A $ locks a reference when copied.
=C2*$G$2Use it immediately
Do it in a real spreadsheet with real-looking business data.
Get instant feedback
Not just “wrong”. We tell you why — wrong range, missing $, right answer but wrong method.
Build workplace skill
Mastery is tracked per skill across lessons, projects and assessments.
Built for real skill
Feels like a spreadsheet. Coaches like a tutor.
See exactly what your formula touches
References light up in colour, click-to-insert ranges, F4 toggles $, and function hints show every argument as you type.
Nudges, not answers
- 1.Think about which cells hold Qty and Price.
- 2.Reference B2 and C2 with *.
- 3.Type =B2*C2
Many right answers
We check results, structure and method — so SUM(D2:D6) and a lesson-specific requirement both work.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
No. Every lesson runs in a spreadsheet inside your browser. What you learn transfers directly to Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
It's a learning spreadsheet that behaves like Excel for the skills we teach — formulas, references, fill handle, formatting and 60+ functions. It isn't a full replacement for Excel, and it doesn't try to be.
A deterministic grading engine checks your result, the structure of your formula, and the method when a lesson is practising a specific function. Assessment answers are graded on our servers.
Not at the moment. Assessments give you a scored, skill-by-skill result and a recommended level, which is what most employer Excel tests measure. Formula Quest is not a Microsoft certification.
No. Annual Pro is a single payment for 12 months and doesn't renew on its own, so there's nothing to cancel. If your Pro ends, your progress and completed work are kept.
No. Formula Quest is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft. Excel is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.
