Questions and answers

Who is Accounting Quest for?

Students in introductory and intermediate accounting, graduates preparing for their first accounting job, career changers, small-business owners who want to understand their numbers, and finance professionals who want a firmer grip on accounting.

Do I need any accounting knowledge to start?

No. The foundations track starts from what accounting is and builds to journal entries. If you already know the basics, skip ahead: prerequisites are advice, not locks.

How is my work graded?

On the server, by a double-entry accounting engine. Journal entries are compared by their effect on each account, so line order doesn't matter and valid alternatives are accepted. When something is wrong, the feedback names the problem — a wrong account type, swapped debits and credits, a missing line — without simply giving away the answer.

Which accounting standards does it follow?

Lessons are written against IFRS Accounting Standards and note US GAAP differences where they matter. They summarise requirements in our own words for learning and aren't a substitute for the standards themselves.

Is it a professional qualification?

No. Accounting Quest is practical training. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any accounting body.

What happens to my work if I'm not signed in?

You can practise the free lessons, the simulators and the free cases as a guest; your work stays in your browser. Create a free account to save it to your account and track mastery.

Can I correct an entry after posting it?

Not by editing it — just as in a real ledger. Reverse the entry and post a corrected one. Grading looks at the combined effect, so a reversal and a corrected entry together count as correct.

How do the practice exams work?

Pick a track exam, a skill check or build your own. Exams are timed, show no hints or feedback until you submit, save your answers as you go so you can resume after a reload, and are graded on the server against a 70% pass mark. You then see every question with its solution and your results by skill.

Has a qualified accountant reviewed the content?

Not yet. Every answer, worked figure and case solution is checked by automated tests against the accounting engine, and the text has had an internal review against the standards (not by a qualified accountant). Independent review by a qualified accountant is still pending, and we'll say so on each lesson until it has happened.

Is it available in Arabic?

Not yet. The site launches in English; the platform is built so Arabic can be added properly later.

Accounting Quest is part of Formula Quest. Paid lessons, cases and exams are included with a Formula Quest membership; see Formula Quest memberships.
